Maah-e-Rabi‘ al-Awwal — part – 1

Tasawwur Kijiye

Ek shakhs ka jo shadeed garmi ke mausam mein kisi aise nayab ghane darakht ke neeche baitha hua hai jis ki chhaaon behad thandi hai aur jis par dilkash, meethe phal lage hue hain.

Woh shakhs us darakht ke tane se tek lagata hai, us ke sayahdaar patte use tapti dhoop se bachate hain, aur jab bhi use bhook lagti hai, woh oopar haath barha kar us ka rasdaar phal tor kar kha leta hai.

Woh shakhs rozana us darakht ke neeche baith kar aaraam paata hai, us ke phalon se lutf-andوز hota hai aur thandi hawayein mehsoos karta hai.

Lekin hairat ki baat yeh hai ke woh shakhs musalsal us phal ki mithaas ka qaseeda to gaata hai, darakht ke khoobsurat patton ki tareef mein din-raat nazmein aur geet bhi likhta hai, magar jaise hi us darakht ko paani dene ya us ki jarron ki hifazat karne ka waqt aata hai, woh munh mor kar khara ho jaata hai!

Woh us darakht ke beejon ko apne ghar ke aangan mein bone se saaf inkaar kar deta hai.

Hatta ke agar koi jaanwar us darakht ki tehniyon ko torne aaye, to woh khaamosh tamaashai bana rehta hai aur use bachane ke liye ek qadam aage nahin barhta.

Yeh ajeeb-o-ghareeb manzar dekh kar koi bhi aaqil insaan hairat mein par jaayega aur pukaar uthega ke:

“Yeh kaisi ajeeb aur adhoori chaahat hai? Jo insaan is darakht ke phal aur saaye ka itna deewana hai, woh is ki baqa, is ke beejon ko phailane aur is ki hifazat ke liye zara bhi mehnat karne ko tayyar kyun nahin?”

Ab zara apne garebaan mein jhaank kar dekhiye!

Yahi woh naaqabil-e-yaqeen aur ta‘ajjub-khez tazad hai jis ka shikaar aaj hum Maah-e-Rabi‘ al-Awwal mein ho chuke hain.

Hum sab is darakht ke phal yani:

“Risaalat-Ma’aab ﷺ ki taleemaat, un ki shafaa‘at ki umeed aur un ki aamad ki khushiyon”

se to har waqt faidah uthana chahte hain.

Hum Aap ﷺ ke Meelaad ki mehfilon, na‘aton aur jalooson ke zariye is saaya-daar darakht ki tareefein bhi khoob karte hain.

Magar jaise hi is Rahmaani darakht ke beej yani:

“Aap ﷺ ki Sunnat-e-Mubaarakah, Aap ke Uswah-e-Hasanah aur Aap ki laayi hui Shari‘at”

ko apni amali zindagi, apne ghar ke maahaul, apni tijaarat aur apne akhlaaq mein bone ka waqt aata hai, to hum bilkul us shakhs ki tarah peechhe hat jaate hain.

Maah-e-Rabi‘ al-Awwal ki aamad ka asal maqsad

Sirf aamad-e-Rahmat ki khushi mana lena nahin hai, balki is mubaarak maah ki asal fikr yeh hai ke jis tarah Aap ﷺ ne insaaniyat ko jahalat ki taareekiyon se nikaal kar Sunnat aur Imaan ki roshni di thi, hum bhi apne wajood se gunaahon ki taareeki ko nikaalein aur Aap ﷺ ki ek-ek Sunnat ko apni amali zindagi ka hissa bana kar Hubb-e-Rasool ﷺ ka sachcha haq ada karein.

Rabi‘ al-Awwal and Love for the Messenger ﷺ

Rabi‘ al-Awwal — Episode 1

Imagine for a moment…

Imagine a man sitting beneath a rare, beautiful tree on a day of scorching heat.

Its shade is wonderfully cool. Its branches are full of beautiful, sweet fruits. He rests his back against its strong trunk. Its leaves protect him from the burning sun. Whenever he feels hungry, he simply reaches up, plucks a juicy fruit, and eats it.

Day after day, he sits beneath that same tree.

He finds comfort in its shade.
He enjoys its fruits.
He feels the cool breeze moving through its leaves.

But there is something deeply strange about this man.

He never stops praising the sweetness of its fruits. He spends hours talking about the beauty of its leaves. He even writes poems and songs in its praise.

But when the time comes to water the tree, he turns away.

When its roots need care, he walks away.

When it is time to plant its seeds in his own garden, he refuses.

And when an animal comes to break its branches, he simply stands there and watches. He does not even take one step forward to protect the tree from harm.

Anyone with sense would be left wondering:

“What kind of love is this? How can a person be so deeply attached to the fruit and shade of a tree, yet have no concern for its life, its roots, its protection, or the spreading of its seeds?”

Now, with a little courage, let us look into our own hearts.

Because this is exactly the painful contradiction that has entered our lives today in the month of Rabi‘ al-Awwal.

We all want to benefit from the fruits of that blessed tree—

the teachings of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ,
the hope of his intercession,
and the happiness of his blessed arrival into this world.

We speak with love about the Prophet ﷺ.
We attend gatherings in his honour.
We recite Naat.
We praise his blessed life.
We express our happiness at his birth.

But when it comes to planting the seeds of that same blessed tree into our own lives—

when it comes to bringing his Sunnah into our homes,
his way into our businesses,
his character into our dealings,
his mercy into our behaviour,
and his teachings into our daily choices—

we step back.

The very things that give life to our love are sometimes the things we are least willing to bring into our lives.

The seeds of that blessed tree are:

the Sunnah of the Messenger ﷺ,
his beautiful example,
and the Shari‘ah he brought from Allah.

We want the fruit, but we do not want the responsibility of caring for the tree.

We want the shade, but we do not want to protect its roots.

We want to speak about the Prophet ﷺ, but sometimes we do not want to live like the Prophet ﷺ taught us to live.

And this is where we need to stop and ask ourselves a painful question:

Is our love for the Messenger ﷺ only something we speak about, or is it something that can be seen in the way we live?

The coming of Rabi‘ al-Awwal should not merely make us happy because the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came into this world.

It should also make us look at our own lives and ask:

What has his coming changed in me?

Has my prayer become better?
Has my character become softer?
Has my home become more peaceful?
Have I become more honest in my business?
Have I become more merciful towards people?
Have I left the sins that he ﷺ taught us to leave?
Have I brought his Sunnah into my everyday life?

The real purpose of remembering the arrival of the Messenger ﷺ is not simply to celebrate the arrival of mercy.

The deeper purpose is to become worthy of that mercy.

He ﷺ came to take humanity out of the darkness of ignorance and into the light of faith, Sunnah and guidance.

So let us not allow Rabi‘ al-Awwal to pass with lights outside our homes while darkness remains inside our hearts.

Let us not decorate our streets while our character remains empty of the beauty of the Sunnah.

Let us not spend hours praising the Messenger ﷺ while ignoring the teachings he spent his entire life giving us.

Let this Rabi‘ al-Awwal become a turning point.

Let us remove the darkness of sin from our lives.

Let us bring one Sunnah after another into our homes.

Let us allow the beautiful character of the Messenger ﷺ to appear in our speech, our dealings, our families, our business, our friendships and our everyday lives.

Because true love is not only spoken—it is lived.

And the truest way to honour the Messenger ﷺ is to let his Sunnah become visible in our lives.

Rabi‘ al-Awwal should not merely remind us that the Messenger ﷺ came into this world.

It should remind us why he came—and whether his coming has truly changed us.
