Agar koi gaari lambi muddat tak baghair service ke chalti rahe,
to aahista aahista uski raftaar bhi kam ho jaati hai,
awaaz bhi badal jaati hai,
Halaanke
fuel bhi dala ja raha hota hai,
chal bhi rahi hoti hai —
magar andar ka nizaam bigar chuka hota hai.
Insaan ka dil bhi kuch aisa hi hai.
Namaz, roza, ilm, muta‘ala — sab kuch hota hai,
lekin agar
dil ki safai,
niyyat ki durustgi,
aur baatin ki islaah na ho,
to aahista aahista roohani raftaar ruk jaati hai.
Isi liye Deen-e-Islam mein sirf a‘maal nahi,
balke Tazkiyah-e-Qalb ko asal bunyaad banaya gaya hai.
⸻
🌱 Tazkiyah-e-Qalb — Ba‘that-e-Nabawi ﷺ ka Bunyaadi Maqsad
Qur’an-e-Kareem ne khud Rasool-e-Akram ﷺ ki ba‘that ka ek azeem maqsad bayan farmaya:
“Huwallazi ba‘atha fil-ummiyyeena rasoolan minhum
yatloo ‘alaihim aayaatihi wa yuzakkihim
wa yu‘allimuhumul-kitaaba wal-hikmah”
(Surah Al-Jumu‘ah: 2)
Yani:
Aayaat ki tilawat → Dilon ka tazkiyah → Kitaab o hikmat ki taleem
Yeh tarteeb khud bata rahi hai
us mein khauf-e-aakhirat aur muhabbat-e-Ilahi paida ki jaaye.
Insaani nafs fitratan un cheezon ki taraf mail hota hai
jin mein fori lazzat ho —
chahe woh Shari‘at ke khilaaf hi kyun na hon.
In rujhanaat ko mod kar khair, hidaayat aur ita‘at ki taraf laana hi
Tasawwuf, Suloook aur Tazkiyah kehlata hai.
⸻
🌱 Tazkiyah kyun itna zaroori hai?
Agar dil saaf ho jaaye,
soch Qur’an ke saanche mein dhal jaaye,
to mu‘ashra khud-ba-khud sanwarne lagta hai.
Zina, sharab, zulm, chori, daaka —
Isi haqeeqat ko Qur’an yun bayan karta hai:
“Qad aflaha man tazakka”
(Surah Al-A‘la: 14)
Aur:
“Qad aflaha man zakkaha wa qad khaaba man dassaha”
(Surah Ash-Shams: 9–10)
Yani
kamyaabi ka raasta tazkiyah-e-nafs se juda hua hai.
⸻
Takabbur pighalta hai
Hasad toot-ta hai
Dil narm hota hai
Aakhirat ki fikr jaagti hai
Kyoonke Sulahaa woh log hotay hain
jo nafs o shaitaan ke fareb ko pehchaan chukay hotay hain,
aur doosron ko bhi bachane ke tareeqe jaante hotay hain.
Yahi Tasawwuf o Suloook hai.
⸻
🌿 **Tasawwuf kya hai?
(Hazrat Sheikh-ul-Hadees Maulana Muhammad Zakariyaؒ ka jawab)**
Kisi ne Hazrat Sheikh-ul-Hadees Maulana Muhammad Zakariyaؒ se poocha:
Tasawwuf kya hai?
Farmaya:
Ibtida: Innamal-a‘maalu bin-niyyaat
Intiha: An ta‘budallaha ka’annaka tarah
Yani:
⸻
🌿 Aaj ke daur ka masla aur hal
Aaj masroofiyaat barh gayi hain,
log khud se tazkiyah ka raasta tay nahi kar paate.
Is liye hal yahi hai ke

aur Sohbat-e-Ahl-e-Dil ke baghair islaah mushkil ho jaati hai.

If a vehicle keeps running for a long time without proper servicing, something slowly begins to change.
Its speed drops.
Its sound is no longer the same.
And one day, without warning, it breaks down in the middle of the road.
Fuel is still being added.
The engine is still running.
But the inner system is damaged.
The human heart is very much the same.
A person may be offering salah, keeping fasts, gaining knowledge, reading books.
Everything seems fine on the outside.
But if the heart is not being cleaned, if intentions are not corrected, if the inner self is not being reformed, then slowly—very slowly—the spiritual movement comes to a halt.
That is why Islam does not focus on actions alone.
It places the foundation on Tazkiyah of the heart.
⸻
🌱 Tazkiyah of the Heart — A Core Purpose of the Prophetic Mission ﷺ
The Qur’an itself clearly states one of the greatest purposes of the coming of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ:
“He is the One who sent among the unlettered people a Messenger from among themselves,
who recites to them His verses,
purifies them,
and teaches them the Book and wisdom.”
(Surah al-Jumu‘ah: 2)
Look closely at the order:
Recitation of the verses → Purification of hearts → Teaching of the Book and wisdom.
This sequence itself declares a powerful truth:
Before knowledge, the heart must be corrected.
Tazkiyah means to cleanse the heart from shamelessness, greed, jealousy, and blind love of the world—
and to fill it with fear of the Hereafter and love of Allah.
The human nafs naturally runs toward anything that gives instant pleasure, even if it goes against Shari‘ah.
Turning these inner pulls toward goodness, guidance, and obedience is what is called Tazkiyah, Tasawwuf, and spiritual training.
⸻
🌱 Why Is Tazkiyah So Necessary?
If the heart becomes clean,
if thinking is shaped by the Qur’an,
then society begins to reform on its own.
Zina, alcohol, oppression, theft, robbery—
these crimes are not born because laws are weak,
they are born because fear of Allah is weak inside the heart.
When the greatness of Allah settles in the heart,
a person stops himself from sin even when he is completely alone.
The Qur’an declares this reality clearly:
“Successful indeed is the one who purifies himself.”
(Surah al-A‘la: 14)
And again:
“Successful is the one who purifies the soul,
and ruined is the one who corrupts it.”
(Surah ash-Shams: 9–10)
True success is tied directly to the purification of the soul.
⸻
🌿 The Company of the Prophet ﷺ — The Greatest Example of Human Transformation
The Arab society in which the Prophet ﷺ arrived was rough, harsh, ignorant, and violent.
But the Prophetic gaze changed everything.
The uncivilised became refined.
The idol-worshippers became people of Tawheed.
The powerless became leaders of the world.
they are living miracles of the company of the Prophet ﷺ.
A poet captured this truth beautifully:
They themselves were not guided, yet became guides for the world—
What a gaze it was, that turned ordinary men into healers of souls.
⸻
🌿 Did This System End After the Prophet ﷺ?
After the Prophet ﷺ came:
the Sahabah → the Tabi‘een → the Taba‘ Tabi‘een → the Awliya of Allah.
In every era, the company of the righteous kept hearts alive.
In their gatherings:
arrogance melts,
jealousy breaks,
hearts soften,
and concern for the Hereafter awakens.
Because the righteous are those who have already recognised the traps of the nafs and Shaytan—
and they know how to protect others as well.
This is what Tasawwuf truly is.
⸻
🌿 What Is Tasawwuf? (Answer of Shaykh-ul-Hadith Maulana Muhammad Zakariyya
Someone once asked Shaykh-ul-Hadith Maulana Muhammad Zakariyya
“What is Tasawwuf?”
He replied:
The beginning: Actions are judged by intentions.
The end: To worship Allah as if you see Him.
Meaning—
the journey begins with correcting intentions,
and ends with living in the awareness of Allah’s presence.
⸻
🌿 The Problem of Today—and Its Solution
Today, life has become extremely busy.
People are unable to walk the path of Tazkiyah on their own.
That is why the solution is clear:
to establish a reformative connection with people of the heart—
upright scholars, the righteous, and the friends of Allah.
In their company, gaze, and companionship lies a special effect
that cannot be achieved through books, speeches, or personal effort alone.
Akbar Allahabadi expressed it perfectly:
Neither books, nor lectures, nor wealth give birth to faith—
Faith is born through the gaze of the righteous.
⸻
🔚 Summary of Part One
Without purification of the heart, religion becomes a burden.
And without the company of people of the heart, true reformation becomes difficult.
